He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not touches on homemaking activities that I especially enjoy—like embroidering, picking flowers, and creating flower arrangements in homey pots and vases. These activities are naturally meditative. And they compel me to be careful and patient if I want a satisfying outcome.
The work is a reminder to take one’s time and to wait patiently, even when one anticipates a desired outcome. It is also about retreating—through slow but sure action—to a memory of things familiar, simpler, and calmer as distinct from the speed and hustle of city living.
