A selection of everyday food items in the my family’s kitchen was used to dye cotton threads in the work Palette. I followed a set of instructions (or a recipe) in preparing the threads for dyeing and creating the dye bath. The process of dyeing the threads and making the dyes are very much similar to cooking. Since each food item has a distinct color and smell, viewers are encouraged to not only view the balls of thread but also to smell them.
